department of radiology research home

Research is an integral component of the Department of Radiology, essential to improving and strengthening our educational and clinical efforts. Our department is actively involved in basic science, clinical and technology-development research for the application of medical imaging. Major areas of research include magnetic resonance imaging, gamma-ray imaging, optics and ultrasound. Special emphasis is placed on basic image science and rigorous assessment of image quality. Current total research funding in the department is over fifteen million dollars, and annual funding fron NIH alone is four to five million dollars.
