nuclear medicine research

Anatomical modalities like mammography and computed tomography are used to study the morphology or structure of the body, but nuclear medicine uses radio-

active tracers to probe the physiology or function. Because these tracers can be exquisitely specific, making only a single chemical species in the body radioactive, nuclear medicine is the prime example of molecular medicine. Research in nuclear medicine ranges from development of new tracers to technological development of new gamma-ray imaging systems to application in clinical medicine and basic biomedical research.
